Nancy Jane King's Family

The earliest member of Nancy Jane's family recorded in Jim Willis's notes is Hillsmon1 King husband of Elizabeth Crabb.

They had seven children Wiley 1805, Delilia 1813, Wesley 1815, Fountain, Hillsmon2 1820, Richard 1822 and Mary 1827.

According to a court case in Franklin County dated November 2, 1836, Hillsmon1 died on a business trip to Mississippi in 1835. John C. Everett of Marion County brought suit against Wiley King, Hilsmon King Jr., Elizabeth (Crabb) King and Rueben Richardson all of Franklin County. "Everett sold to Hilsmon King Sr., deceased about October 1835, a flat bottomed boat located on the Tennessee and 2500 bushels of corn for $1,000.00 delivered January 15, 1835 to said King. Hilsmon King Sr. paid $80.00 upon agreement and $100.00 upon delivery. Daniel Riggles held the note for the balance. King paid about $300 and went to Mississippi with the corn where he died leaving a window, Elizabeth and Hilsmon Jr. and Wiley King his heirs.

"His heirs are wantonly wasting his estate and are preparing to abscond," the suit read. "Reubin Richardson is owed by Hilsmon King Sr. $500. King had a fine bay mare worth $200. and other horses, hogs, cattle, farming utensils, household and kitchen furniture."

Wesley, or maybe Wiley (I'm still resarching which one) married Nancy Sargent. Their children were Hillsmon2 1831, Johnson 1833, Sarah 1837, George 1839, Fountain 1845, Thomas Spencer 1847, Nancy Jane 1851.
