Sherwood Chronology



1852, February Cumberland Tunnel completed

1875 – Sherwood Land and Emigration Company was formed by C.D. Sherwood, Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota 1864 – 1866.

1880 (about) A “Mr. Webster” set up first lime kiln.

1892 - Byron Gager, a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, came to Sherwood from Sandusky Ohio, established Gager Lime Company.

1899 – Epiphany Mission established

1902 - Epiphany wooded church built

1926 – Byron Gager died

1928 - Ephphany stone church built
1930 – Peak in Sherwood population 1,700-plus

1938 – Fr. Jones, begins building mission garden

1949Gager Lime closed


1950
- Presentation of HMS Sherwood Badge

1952Fr. Jones died

1953 - Wooden School burns

1960
– Epiphany Stone church burns

1964 – Epiphany New church finished
